Happy fall, Friend!
There are so many wonderful things about fall: dogs can take an afternoon walk without burning their little paws, cats have new seasonal decor to push off edges deliberately, and we have the recurring support of our FurEver Friends to keep us strong through the busy holiday season. With the end of the year in sight, everyone at RedRover is hard at work planning another lifesaving Domestic Violence Awareness Month, choosing new designs for our online store, and getting ready for GivingTuesday.
When things get hectic and we need a reminder of our “why,” we think not only of the pets and families we’re helping but of your inspiring commitment to helping them, too. Johanna Casao, mother of Shiba Inus and our Communications Manager, captured the spirit of our gratitude best.Â

I wasn’t kidding about the busy holiday season! Here are a few of the many ways you can keep making a difference for animals in crisis this fall.Â
OCTOBERÂ Â
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). Every year, we focus on spreading awareness about the link between domestic violence and animal abuse and the need for pet-friendly domestic violence shelters. This year, we’re raising $15,000 to provide 500 nights of safety for survivors through the RedRover Relief Safe Escape grant program.Â
We’d like to give a special thank you to our recurring donors to the Purple Leash Project. You make a difference for domestic violence survivors and their pets this DVAM (and every month of the year!) And here’s some exciting news: Purina, our partner in the Purple Leash Project, is matching every gift in support of the Project, between now and December 31, up to $500,000, including each of the monthly gifts you make this year!
 Â
Just in time for the holidays, Purina also partnered with Modern Family actor, advocate, and domestic abuse survivor, Sarah Hyland, to create the “Courageous Together Collection,” a variety of items for both pet lovers and their pets to wear courageously and inspire others. The collection is available exclusively at shop.PurpleLeashProject.com, and 100% of every purchase is a donation to RedRover to help keep abuse survivors with their pets.

Didn't mean to scare you! You know what's really spooky, though? Most, if not all, Halloween treats aren't safe for our pets. This is not a trick: the good folks at Chewy have come up with five Halloween-themed treats for you to enjoy the holiday with your pup.Â

  NOVEMBER
Here’s one
your pet may enjoy: Saturday, November 1, is National Cook for Your Pets Day. Tell them Thanksgiving came early.Â
Saturday, November 8, is International Human-Animal Bond Day, and while we celebrate our bonds with animals every day, a little extra gratitude for the wonderful animals in our lives never hurt anyone.Â

 DECEMBER Â
Thanksgiving…Black Friday…Cyber Monday…GivingTuesday! In the true spirit of gratitude and giving thanks, join us on Tuesday, December 2, as this compassionate community of ours comes together for another lifesaving GivingTuesday. Mark your calendars today!

And now, the fun part. Thank you to everyone who took part in July's poll! Pets are family, and in many families, a budget item all their own. I took the time to calculate it, and on average, 23% of my monthly budget goes to my two dogs. Fortunately, we love them
with 100% of our hearts.

This month, I'm asking a simple yes or no question: Do you let your pet kiss your face? Experts may advise against it, but who are they to put a damper on your pet's enthusiasm? One of my dogs can't give enough kisses, while getting a kiss from the other is newsworthy. Put me down for
"yes."

I enjoy
putting together these special updates for you, Friend. I hope you enjoy them too.Â
Take care!
