Exciting Purple Leash Project News!
1,000,000 Safe Nights

While the 25 by 2025 campaign has ended, our work to help survivors and their pets escape abuse has not. Through the Purple Leash Project, Purina and RedRover are helping create more safe spaces for abuse survivors and their pets, with the goal of providing one million safe nights by the end of 2030.

From Survivor, to Survivor Lifeline: An Inspiring Story of One On-Call Angel's Journey

The majority of RedRover On-Call Angels choose to help Urgent Care cases, or both Urgent Care and Safe Escape cases. But there are a handful of members dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence and their pets specifically. Members like Julie*, a survivor of domestic violence who joined the program just last month, and received the details of her first case only a few weeks ago. Read on about her transformation from survivor, to survivor lifeline, and how she’s helping pet families this Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Building Together for Detroit Dogs

Our RedRover Responders volunteers rounded out the summer season in the Midwest’s “Motor City,” Detroit. We joined our partners at Dog Aide, a local nonprofit that provides essential services and resources to Detroit pet parents with dogs. Together, we built outdoor enclosures that give dogs a large space for playtime, rest, and plenty of zoomies.

Sugar’s Happy Tail

Maegan stepped away from working full-time at the business she owned and operated after both of her parents were diagnosed with terminal illnesses. In the moments between around-the-clock care, she could relax and take comfort with her 10-year-old dog, Sugar. At Sugar’s age, mammary tumors were common, but still very serious – they carried a 50/50 risk of being cancerous. The growing tumor on her chest needed to be removed and biopsied right away. Maegan’s income had been significantly reduced when she started caring for her parents, and what she made now was inconsistent. Without knowing if the tumor was cancerous, there was no time to save for the surgery. She learned about the RedRover Relief Urgent Care grant program from her local humane society and knew it was just what she and Sugar needed – that last little bit of help from a FurEver Friend.
