August 2024 – Monthly Update

My #1 Fan and Protector:

Marvin the Dog’s Happy Tail

No one can share a Happy Tail better than the family it belongs to. Four years after her persistent efforts to gain rescue pup Marvin’s trust, and having survived domestic violence with him by her side, Brittany knew that they could get through anything together. Read Brittany and Marvin’s Happy Tail in her own words, proof of the lifesaving difference your recurring support makes for families in crisis.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

Sunday, August 28, marks Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. Losing a pet hurts – years may pass before the pain of loss softens into warm, beautiful memories of your sweet one. You can honor those beloved pets by making a gift on this special day. You’ll keep families whole, giving them more time to create those warm, beautiful memories.

The Purple Leash Project Helps Make Colorado DV Shelter Pet Friendly

This project was a long time in the making – Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) shelter staff had attended a Don’t Forget the Pets workshop last year in hopes of learning how to welcome survivors’ pets into the shelter. Then RedRover and Greater Good Charities (GGC) took a tour of the facility to determine how best to renovate the shelter to allow survivors’ pets onsite.

Preparing Yourself and Your Pets
for Flooding

When Devon Krusko, RedRover's Field Services and Community Programs Manager, experienced the 2023 flooding in Vermont, she was mostly prepared. But this year it was clear she needed to be even more prepared for the future. Planning for emergencies must become second nature: If you have to evacuate or you can’t leave your home, it’s important to be prepared! Make it a priority to build a disaster kit for both the people and pets in your home.
