Summer 2025 – Special Update

Is it hot outside, or is that just the warmth of the FurEver Friends’ compassion and kindness?? Happy summer, Friend. I’m excited to share this special bulletin with you.

We’ve reached the halfway point of 2025, and the sun is shining on the lifesaving difference your recurring support is making for animals, families, and communities in crisis. How big and bright of a difference? More than $318,400 from 3,197 generous Friends! That means by the end of the year, you will have contributed more than $500,000 dollars to keep families together and bring animals from crisis to care – and there’s still time to grow your impact! Consider making even more of a lifesaving difference for animals for the rest of the year with as little as $1 more a month.

Have you heard of the On-Call Angels? They’re another special group of donors to RedRover who, like all you FurEver Friends, made a commitment to being there for animals and families when they need you the most. Reflecting on that commitment, Olivia Carpenter, Membership Coordinator in charge of the On-Call Angel program, had this to share (bonus picture of her boy, Fig):

“The people behind the purpose.” I liked that phrasing, and it made me think of other ways you’re an irreplaceable part of our community. “The movement behind the mission,” or “the power behind the programs.” Whatever the creative phrasing, we couldn’t do it without you.

Here are a few ways to keep being the heart and soul of RedRover this summer.

JULY

Right now, the RedRover Responders volunteers are in Ohio building pet-friendly spaces at a local YWCA. With the end of the year and the end of the 25 by 2025 campaign approaching, we’re grateful for every domestic violence shelter that becomes pet friendly and welcomes survivors and their pets together.

You can help more domestic violence shelters become pet friendly – plus care for animals displaced by natural disasters or rescued from cruelty or neglect, and improve access to veterinary care and essential resources for pet families in under-resourced communities – by becoming a RedRover Responders volunteer today. Training is available online, on demand, at no cost to you, and takes less than a day to complete.

Did you miss the Meet and Greet with President and CEO Katie Campbell in May? Are you curious about how your recurring support is being put to work to protect our bonds with animals?

Join us at the upcoming President and CEO Meet and Greet on July 30 at 1 p.m. PST / 4 p.m. EST. Register today at RedRover.org/events! We’ll always save a spot for a Friend :)

   AUGUST

The President and CEO Meet and Greet is not your only chance to chat with and learn from RedRover this summer. With disaster season likely to heat up in August, we’ll host a Pet Disaster Preparedness with RedRover Responders webinar on August 6. Learn what you can do to keep you and your pets safe and ready in the event of a natural disaster – and how you can protect other animals in crisis.

Speaking of disaster preparedness, we’re offering one free emergency decal to every FurEver Friend. Fill in the decal and place it in a front window so first responders know to rescue the whole family.

Helping animals in crisis right now doesn’t mean we can’t also plan for the future, a future where our pets are protected. We’re hosting an Estate Planning and Pet Trusts webinar on August 20 so you can make sure your pet will be cared for while leaving a legacy of kindness to animals. With this informative webinar, planning your estate and a bright future for your pet will never seem easier!

   SEPTEMBER

September is National Pet Memorial Month, and many of us may know from experience how complicated our emotions can be after losing a pet. As a part of RedRover’s compassionate community, you’re never alone in your grief and heartache. I wanted to share a few fun ways I’ve memorialized some of the pups I’ve loved and lost, including making a gift in their memory to help other animals and the people who love them

However you heal, they’ll always be in your heart.

With less than six months to go before the end of 2025, we’re excited to share our progress in making 25% of domestic violence shelters nationwide pet friendly by the end of the year – because you’ve made it possible.

SAVE THE DATE!
As we lead into Domestic Violence Awareness month in October, join us for a virtual panel discussion on the 25 by 2025 campaign and keeping survivors and their pets together on September 30 💜

FurEver Friends Fun Poll

No fur fears here! More than half of the Friends who responded agree: keeping your pet close at night is the best way to catch some Z’s.

I have two young, healthy dogs, and still, pet care is the biggest category in my budget every month. I try not to spoil them with too many extras, but food, dental treats, and veterinary care really add up. We save money by grooming at home, making our own treats, and keeping toys until they’re falling apart. If I ever win the lottery, more pampered pups would be the only way you could tell.

So I’m curious, what percent of your monthly budget goes to your pet?

That’s all for this summer, Friend! May your drinks be iced, and your AC working. I’ll be back in the fall with more ways you can stay involved with RedRover and the results of our latest poll. Thank you for being a Friend to the animals!
